J. Kevin A. McKechnie is Executive Director and founder of both the American Bankers Association’s Health Savings Account Council and the Office of Insurance Advocacy, representing each before Congress and the federal government.

Mr. McKechnie is a nationally recognized expert in insurance generally and health insurance in particular. He is a frequent expert voice in media and public hearings, having testified before Congress and cable news on several occasions. 

Additionally, Mr. McKechnie is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Financial Institutions Insurance Council, serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of uQontrol, a FinTech payments and credentialing company in Sandpoint, Idaho, is a Board member of PACEM Defense Solutions in Arlington, Virginia and is also Global Head of Product for Derivtion, a specialized risk management company focusing on capital markets solutions for catastrophic cyber risk exposures based in New York.

Mr. McKechnie has more than thirty years’ experience in financial services industry and in financial services and insurance advocacy. 

Mr. McKechnie joined ABA in 2001 after serving as an Account Executive and Government Relations Representative for the Affinity Services Division of Marsh & McLennan.

Mr. McKechnie pursued graduate studies in American history at the American University in Washington, D.C. after receiving his BA in History and Political Science from York University in Toronto, Canada. 

Born in Madison Wisconsin, Mr. McKechnie grew up in Toronto and has lived in the Washington D.C. area since 1988.
